Are you thinking about celebrating your marriage during a holiday weekend? Here at Penn Oaks Golf Club, we host many holiday events. Usually they are the first to go because the extra day gives guests an extra day to travel or celebrate and recover! These dates are also popular because some companies are closed on holidays which allows your guests to continue the celebration, without having to miss a day of work.
Holidays provide you with great theme ideas for the weekend long celebration! Try and incorporate holiday themes throughout your reception, like naming your signature drink the “Nutty Irishman” for St. Patrick’s Day. On Cinco de Mayo, maybe add a piñata to cocktail hour like our bride and groom in the picture! When selecting your menu, choose options that would fit into the theme of the holiday. This kind of detail will definitely leave a lasting impression. Incorporate games into your cocktail hour that fit the theme of the wedding. If you are getting married around July 4th, corn hole and other lawn games would be great for cocktail hour. You could also do a cook out theme as a rehearsal dinner! The Christmas season is great for holiday weddings because most venues decorate for the holiday already! You can add a personal touch by hanging stockings on the mantle with your bridal party’s name on them. You can also have your guests interact by making each table sing a Christmas carol.
Keep in mind with holiday weekend weddings, you have to plan well in advance. A lot of families use holiday weekends as mini vacations or get-togethers with friends and family they haven’t seen in a while. Once you book your venue/date, send out the save the dates. Also include information about transportation and accommodations so your guests can well prepare for the happiest day of your life!
